Each week I bring you a craft that is fun, educational, and frugal! This week’s craft is also yummy!
Edible Turkeys
Materials:
Graham Crackers
Chocolate Frosting
Candy Corn
Vanilla Wafers
Pretzel Sticks
Directions:
1. Break one graham cracker in half and put a light layer of frosting on one half.
2. Gently push 4 pretzel sticks in the frosting and cover with another light layer of chocolate.
3. Lay the other graham cracker half on top.
4. Smear chocolate frosting on the back of one vanilla wafer and “glue” it on top of the cracker.
5. Smear chocolate frosting on one side of a piece of candy corn and “glue” it pointing down on top of the wafer.
6. Using a toothpick or pretzel stick, use the frosting to create little eyes.
7. Eat and enjoy!
Educational Activities:
- Language Arts: Have your child record the recipe on an index card. This will help with their brainstorming for the writing process. 2. Read a turkey themed book with your child. I recently did a local storytime and read the book
- Math: Discuss the shapes of the materials (candy corn is a triangle, graham crackers are rectangles and when broken in half are squares, vanilla wafers are circles).
- Social Studies/History: Discuss the history of Thanksgiving and have your child create a list of people and items they are thankful for in life.
